Suitable for all styles of playing, this model has a rich sound with excellent response and tone quality. The instrument is supplied with two mouthpieces/receivers — one for the standard flügelhorn mouthpiece that gives the richest sound and best intonation from the low register through the G on the top of the staff, and the other for a standard trumpet mouthpiece shank that gives consistent intonation from the low register through the C above the staff. Using the trumpet shank mouthpiece receiver enables the player to play in tune from the lowest note through the high register at the expense of some of the richness in the sound. For optimum performance, it may be necessary to change the receiver/leadpipe for the job at hand.
